Abstract (Swedish)
There are several academical explanations of the phenomenon panic, mainly defined by behaviorists. However, these definitions tend not to be widely used or accepted by the public. While most of the behaviorists suggest that panic rarely occurs during fire and evacuation, the general view mostly differs and is essentially made up by media. This study reviews the different opinions of panic among professionals working with fire protection: the fire department and fire protection consultants, and the general public.
