Malmö Academy of Music
Abstract
As a cello teacher, you are supposed to know how to play the cello. You are also supposed to know how to teach others how to play the cello. Do they look at themselves as teachers or musicians, or perhaps both? Which needs exist and are these needs fostered by the students and/or the music? How do they keep the inspiration alive year after year? This is a qualitative essay based on four interviews. The criteria of the chosen respondents are
described further on. Although my essay does not give a definitive conclusion, it does give an insight into the real world of cello teachers, highlighting the... (More)
