- Abstract
- To improve the reglllarity of the Capenhagen commute rrain, stag,
by simulation. This is achieved by simulating different time
schedules in a mode! of the S-tog network, and to develop an
optimization heuristic that improves the abil!ty to simulate different
time schedules.
Even though desirable, it would be practically impossible to try out
every single time schedule combination. Consequently we have
chasen to only test thase time schedules that we believe have a good
passibility of being optimal. The time schedule of today has
therefore been used as a base, since ir would be unreasonable that
these values are completely wrong. The simulation mode! daes Ilot

take in consideration extraordinary events, such as weather
phenomena, and nain malfunctions.
Since we have conducted a comparative analyse of the regularity for
different settings of an isolated factor is the chosen method called an
experimental study, but with some modificatlons. The mam
purpose is rather of a problem solving nature, than explaining.
Even though we only simulated a small part of the total amount of
different time schedules, we achieved a result that was better than
the time schedule used today. fu long as the deve!oped mode!
describes the real ity good enough, the result should be useful for
application on the S-tog train network. (Less)
