Production Management
Abstract
Presentation of The progress of the company during the last ten years has resulted in a
the problem: gradually increased range of new products. As a consequence, the
production requires a more refined production control and hence a well
working MRP-system. The aim of the thesis has been to create a basis
for starting up the MRP part of the ERP-system in the company.
Purpose of To define, analyse and develop better solutions of the production- and
thesis: informationflow with purpose to create an efficient control process in
the production. From this basis, more accurate decisions will be taken in
the company. An efficient production control will also generate shorter
lead-time in production and reduce capital binding.

the company. An efficient production control will also generate shorter
lead-time in production and reduce capital binding.
Method: Investigation method has a qualitative approach in order to execute a
case study in the production process of Rappgo AB. Empirical primary
data has been collected through observations of the process and by
interviewing employees at the company. Secondary data has been
collected from literature.
Conclusions: To obtain an efficient material and production control, Cycle Planning
should be used both to control material supply and to control the first
two phases of the production. The third and last phase should be
managed by demand in order to create large flexibility concerning
variations. A well working control will reduce the lead-time as well as
the stocks. In addition this will also result in a decreased capital binding.
To implement the MRP-system, new basic data must be developed. A
suggestion is to produce an article number system according to
semilogical structure. This should be followed by a product group
register based on logical structure. In addition to this a new structure
register should be worked out in five different levels.
With a well working ERP-system and by controlling the processes by
Cycle Planning, Rappgo will be able to make more accurate decisions in
the future which will lead to an increased competitive position in the
market. (Less)
