This report is written in cooperation with Arjo Hospital Equipment AB. The purpose
of it is to propose and suggest ways to improve the flow of information between Arjo
and its suppliers. There are many aspects to this problem and Arjo constantly works
with issues concerning this through evaluations and assessments. These
circumstances are the actual background for this master thesis.
As a foundation for the suggestions we make, lies a case study performed on 14 of

This report is written in cooperation with Arjo Hospital Equipment AB. The purpose
of it is to propose and suggest ways to improve the flow of information between Arjo

with issues concerning this through evaluations and assessments. These
circumstances are the actual background for this master thesis.
As a foundation for the suggestions we make, lies a case study performed on 14 of
Arjos some 200 active suppliers. Initially we intended to focus on the communication
and flow of information generated by the handling of orders and drawings. This idea,
however, had to be revaluated and other aspects had to be included in order to get a
complete grasp of the situation. On top of the two aspects mentioned above we chose
to include for example the work with prognosis and forecasting and other types of
activities that function as a source of information flow. The interviews that made up
the case study provided a picture of what type of knowledge, competence and will
that existed within Arjo’s suppliers. Together with the chosen theory, the gathered
data made up the base for the finale chapter where the conclusions and suggestions
are presented.
Apart from the main study of Arjo’s suppliers, several interviews have been
performed on key personal at Arjo itself. The purpose of this was to determine how
the communication process works today and therefore, in order to describe this, the
interviews are summarized in detail in the report. In addition, interviews have been
performed on other companies to give us new ways to look at the problem and what
can be done about it. We wanted to capture new thoughts that could contribute to our
own knowledge in the process of analyzing the data.
The interviews with Arjo’s suppliers also include their views and opinions about what
type of communication that should be used when dealing. These topics are addressed
in the conclusions as well as several possible measures that can be taken by Arjo to
improve the areas under scrutiny in the report. The measures are basically divided
into different levels which respectively mean a certain level of commitment to the
improvement process. Positive and negative aspects are specified for each level. This
is followed by a wrap up of the measurement that we think are suitable for Arjo,
including a recommendation of using e-mail when handling orders and the use of a
website for handling drawings. (Less)
