The purpose of this study was to illustrate how the work with unaccompanied refugee children is perceived by the employees at a youth accommodation. The study had a qualitative study and the empirical data was collected through four interviews. The results of the collected empirical data shows that the interview participants believe that the work is at time difficult but managed, despite rules and limits are relatively wide discretion to make the best possible for the children. The amount of unaccompanied refugee children arriving to Sweden has increased in recent years. Many of these children are placed in municipal institutions where employees are working to care for and support the children in their process of integration. The children who come to Sweden have a list of laws and regulations that the employees of municipal institutions have to take account of in the work with the children. The interview participants declares that the work is exiting, challenging, rewarding and hard. The discussion holds options concerning the lack of previous research, discretion and the legal rights of these children.
