The purpose of this study was to get a greater insight and understanding into how these people have been integrated into Swedish society and also to study which major factors played and made that most of these people did not return home again. The Swedish economy exploded extensively which created a huge need of labor power for the Swedish industry after the Second World War. This big import of labor was during the period of 1960-1970 and biggest emigration of people to Sweden came from former Yugoslav country, people who wanted to improve their life situation. The recruitment of these people went mostly through Swedish institute of labor (AMS) through Yugoslavian institute of labor and the Swedish embassy but many also came privately through friends and relatives. These people came to Sweden with the intention of returning to their country with much better economical funds and enough savings that they could reinvest into their own country. Sweden was a country filled with opportunities who offered all of these factors but most important, they all saw themselves as being a temporary labor in fact very few of them returned to their homeland. Why didn’t these people return? What happened that made them not being able to fulfill their dream of returning? What happened with the integration in their new country Sweden? These are some of the questions I’m going to approach in this thesis. The result of this study showed that none of the respondents returned to their home country for their children's sake, but it also demonstrates that the personal economy was one of the deciding factors that made them stay in their new country.
