- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to examine how social workers with duties related to emergency room in hospitals handle stressrelated feelings. In the everydaylife at the emergency rooms the social workers come in contact with patiens trauma which could cause secondary stress among the social workers. Through qualitive interviews the social workers expearinces was examined and analyzed with the theory of stress, coping and sense of cohence. The result shows that the most common copinstrategies was social support, short breaks and during their leisure time they use their interest outside the job. How social workers choose to respond to stress in the workplace based on their previous experience and knowledge of the profession.
