Registered nurses´ perception of ethical problems within healthcare

- Abstract
- The aim of the study was to examine how Registered Nurses perceive ethical problems within healthcare and enlighten the ongoing discussions concerning them. Five Registered Nurses at a surgical ward were interviewed in order to perform an empirical study. A literature review was also done where five articles were analysed. The findings show that the patients autonomy, personal sphere and rights, summoned as the ‘patient’s best’, are always in focus for healthcare ethics. Problems arising in connection are highly complex. In order to prevent and uphold good ethics the informants in both studies held good communication as a key factor. Furthermore the findings show that there is confusion and inconsequences about the concept of ethics.... (More)
