- Abstract
- There are many immigrant women living in Sweden today who come from cultures in Africa where Female Genital Mutilation is tradition. Due to the many complications of this tradition and due to inadequate knowledge of the tradition and management of its complications within the healthcare system, it is one of the biggest health problems of our time. A content analysis was used to process this material, resulting in a number of concepts. A common factor for all the respondents was the importance of information and communication and the need for empathy. Changes towards improvement of reception and treatment of circumcised women within the healthcare system are vital. (Less)
