- Abstract
- HIV is a global problem, with the largest number of infected living in sub-Saharan Africa. HIV prevention has increased in importance to combat the disease and nurses constitute an essential profession in HIV prevention. The aim of this study was to examine the nurse-s role in HIV prevention in Uganda, focusing on their assignments and perceptions of the profession. The study found that the main focus of HIV prevention is to give health education. Another significant issue is infection control, protecting oneself and the patient from acquiring HIV.
