- Sexual violence has always been used as a weapon in war. Only recently have the UN started to work against the violence and tried to end the impunity. This year, Margot Wallström presented the report that she has been working on during her post as the special representative of the UN Secretary General for sexual violence in armed conflicts. The report contains information about the conflict- related sexual violence in the world, new ways of ending the impunity, and to strengthening the women’s status in war and in peace. Even though the report was warmly welcomed by most of the countries in the Security Council, it did get some critique.
