Abstract (Swedish)
Self-critical people compared with those who self-reassure are at increased risk of depression and other forms of psychopathology. The purpose of this study was to translate two self-report scales – The Forms of self-criticizing/attacking and self-reassuring scale(FSCRS) and The Functions of self-criticizing/attacking scale (FSCS) – into Swedish, and to evaluate them psychometrically. The scales measure how self-criticism takes different forms and functions and the ability to self-reassure.
Methods: The scales were translated and given to 74 students at two occasions together with measures of shame, guilt, well-being, life quality and positive and negative affects. Results: The Swedish versions of FSCRS and FSCS were psychometrically... (More)

Methods: The scales were translated and given to 74 students at two occasions together with measures of shame, guilt, well-being, life quality and positive and negative affects. Results: The Swedish versions of FSCRS and FSCS were psychometrically comparable to
the original versions at a satisfying level. Measures of validity and reliability were good. There were nevertheless a few items that showed poor psychometrically properties. Conclusions: FSCRS and FSCS seem to work well in a Swedish setting, but some items need to be rephrased and followed by a new psychometrical evaluation with a larger
population than in the present study. (Less)
