- Abstract
- In this essay I analyze the exhibition ”Peoples of the earth”. In order to do this I have asked
questions that look into the intentions of the exhibition, the experience of the visitor and the

I discover more issues and problems with the exhibition when it comes to museum pedagogy,
communication with the visitors and in the representation of other cultures. But my
conclusion is that great changes have and are happening at the museum in terms of museum
pedagogy and constructing ethnographic exhibitions. In the future the museum will be
concentrating more on the contextualization of the museum objects and on communication
with and involvement of the visitor. There has also been a change in the way the museum
wishes to represent cultures and in future exhibitions the goal is to show the development the
cultures have undergone from early times to the present. At the same time the museum now
feels ready to integrate the voices of the people in the exhibition and letting them help making
the construction of their cultures presented in the museum. (Less)
