The aim of this descriptive study is to out of psychosocial background and personality structure illuminate a group of young men (18-24 years) convicted for violence- and sexual crimes and to identify systematic differences in occurrence of traumatizing experiences during growth between the group of personality disorders and not personality disorders.
This study is a part of an extensive cross-sectional study within Vo Forensic Psychiatry, Region Skane and the Research Group Forensic Psychiatry, Lund University in cooperation with Correctional treatment Region West and Gothenburg University.
The study includes 75 intakes on institutions in the south of Sweden convicted for violence and sexual crimes.
Besides the fact that drug-abuse is very frequent, the results also show that a majority (84%) has a childhood related disorder, almost fifty percent has an axel 1 disorder (depression-and anxiety syndrome) and a majority (68%) has a personality disorder primary of an antisocial character.
Regarding the results of CTQ it ́s significant that the group has been exposed to physical abuse as well as emotional and physical neglect.
On TCI it ́s foremost the low score on the subscale Reward Dependence that is conspicuously, which indicates resistance to change and therefore can be aggravating in treatment.
The study also has an attempt to look further into the concept of childhood-adulthood normbreaking behaviour as this has shown to be a gateway to criminality. (Less)
