Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine different factors that influenced former drug addicts to quit abusing drugs and make a role change. We chose a qualitative method and our study was based on semi-structured interviews with seven individuals about their turning point in their life as an active drug abuser. We did that by setting up meetings with our selected adults from two different organizations for former active drug addicts. Our study show that the process of role-exiting looked different for each participant, but all of them had experienced several negative consequences of their drug abuse which led them to take a conscious or unconscious decision to quit abusing drugs. We analyzed the interviews by focusing on "the turning point"... (More)
