It explores the transferability of the DIKT Learning Model and theory of Creative Populations, originally found in management literature, and applies them to a social change corporation in Medellin, Colombia. Field information was compiled through open, group, and semi-structured interviews with the school teachers and the Gulliver staff, as well as document analysis, and on site observations. Based on this information the characteristics of the Gulliver Project and the opportunities for it to become a vehicle for sustainable were identified. The first section of the thesis presents the content of the DIKT Learning Model and the theory of Creative Populations. The second part presents context of the city and of the Medellin International Poetry Festival and of the Gulliver Project; then the results from the research are presented and analyzed using the selected framework. Overall the DIKT Learning Model was found to be applicable for sustainable development issues, which was also the case for the theory of Creative Populations. The Gulliver Project was found to stimulate development of the Literary interest, Joy of Learning, and Creativity for the children, and to be skilled in mostly Creator areas. This would leave ample areas of collaboration with sustainable development initiatives that are skilled in implementation and stabilization areas. Further research is suggested to better understand the potential and limitations of this intended interdisciplinary venture. (Less)
