- Abstract (Swedish)
- This report will examine the reliability of calculation methods used for concrete structures in the serviceability limit state. A comparison between the different methods will be done, based on calculations of the reliability index for these methods. This comparison will be the base for
a discussion about what norm that should be prefferd in different situations and what level of reliability the calculation should be based on.
The object used for the analysis is a concrete slab. The norms examined in the report are the Swedish norm BKR 99 (1998) and the European norm Eurocode (2000). The object used for the analysis is a concrete slab. The norms examined in the report are the Swedish norm BKR 99 (1998) and the European norm Eurocode (2000). Three ways of describing the cracking of the concrete has been used for the calculations based on BKR 99 (1998). The method used for describing the cracking is of great inportance to the amplitude of
the calculated deflection in the structure.
A short description of the theory behind the reliability index will be given. Also, the calculation methods FORM, SORM and Monte Carlo, will be described briefly.
The result shows a substantial difference between BKR 99 (1998) and Eurocode (2000), both in reliability and height of the slab. Eurocode (2000) has a lower reliability index but, also the thickness of the structure will also be lower. (Less)
