Crushing plant optimization

- Abstract
- Problem: The Sandvik quote system does not offer the possibility to deliver the
total cost of ownership for their equipment. They have a draft model
that is in need of further work and calculation follow‐ups.
Purpose: The objective is to finalize the existing model for calculations and to
verify the model calculations with comparisons to reality.
Methodology: Some of the methods that are used in this report are specified sampling
procedures, interviews and empirical analysis made iteratively with the
concept of induction, deduction and verification.
Conclusion: The calculation methodology in the PlantDesigner optimization tool is

future calculations with some limitations.
The PlantDesigner optimization tool is very complicated and is not
appropriate for future salesmen usage. A more user friendly tool that is
focused on revealing the Sandvik competitiveness in long‐term efficient
crushing plants and equipment would be preferable in this aspect.
The cost aspect in the PlantDesigner optimization tool is not needed
and the plant is better optimized against the desired product instead of
against customer profit. The cost aspect is only adequate in the sales
perspective as it doesn´t differ remarkably between setting changes.
The goals with the PlantDesigner optimization tool are best reached by
separating the purposes by creating a new program that is focused on
sales only and maintain the PD optimization tool for plant product
optimization. (Less)
