Utbuds- och snöbollseffekter av Fairtrade

- Abstract
- Purpose: To investigate what effects the introduction of Fairtrade brings into a market with non-certified producers and to see whether these effects appear to their advantage or disadvantage.
Methodology: To compare the effects of two different models, as well as the assumptions behind them. Thereafter apply these effects on previous case studies to compare the models’ relevance and future use.
Theoretical Based on previous theoretical - and empirical studies, as well as
perspective: theoretical models to support the interpretation of the models’ results.

perspective: theoretical models to support the interpretation of the models’ results.
Results: The results of the study are not clear because there is lack of case studies comparing the effects of these two models. However, it did show that the non-certified producers got affected to some extent. The main effects was partially due to the models’ time perspective, Fairtrade’s effect on demand and supply together with the substitutability of the product. Furthermore, the analysis showed a possibility to complement the two models. (Less)
