All ecosystems, forests, lakes, seas etc., are changeable and are under constant influence, inner as well as outer, that try to push the for the moment present state in different directions. Lakes have two dominating states in which they can exist, they are either clear and low in nutrients or turbid and high in nutrients.
In this study I have been examining lake Börringesjön in the south of Skåne. The lake has been the subject of a number of investigations the last couple of years.

Lakes have two dominating states in which they can exist, they are either clear and low in nutrients or turbid and high in nutrients.
In this study I have been examining lake Börringesjön in the south of Skåne. The lake has been the subject of a number of investigations the last couple of years.
The purpose of the study has been to try to find the reason of, and possible measures to the poor sight in, and high turbidity of, the water in the lake. My thesis is that earlier loading of nutrients from a butchery south of the lake has created a gradient of turbidity along the north-south axis of the lake. I have also carried out a test fishing to examine the structure of the fish-community in the lake and compare the results with the results of an earlier test fishing.
Water samples has been tested for suspended solids (SS), volatile suspended solids (VSS) and chlorophyll-a. A logger of wind-data was placed at the lake to see if the wind has an impact on the turbidity.
The results from the water samples showed no gradient of turbidity along the north-south axis of the lake. Since there was a lack of strong winds the days around sampling, only weak wind- induced gradients of turbidity. The results of the test fishing showed a fish-community that has increased in both mass and numbers. The dividing between cyprinids and piscivors show a lake that is in relative balance. (Less)
