- Abstract
- There is a big discussion regarding the productivity in the construction industry. Many suggestions on how to mend this exist and one example is Virtual Design and Construction – VDC. The three main parts of VDC is the Product, often displayed as a BIM-model, the Organization with the intention to put the right team to every task, the Process which searches for more effective ways to work. With the 3D-visualisation and improved ways to work problems should be able to be solved early in the design phase. Guidelines on how to implement VDC successfully does not exist at present. The question at hand is weather an active use of VDC in the production can increase the effectiveness or not. The work consists of a 3D-visualisation and a time and motion study where focus lies on effectiveness. We are following two teams who are doing similar work in two separate stairwells. The control values are taken from Nybyggnadslistan (Nybyggnadslistan 1999). The tendencies we can see are that an active use of VDC in the production increases the effectiveness. Our study is too small to answer the question and a more exhaustive study is required to determine a relation. (Less)
