- In this study the question is raised of how environmental inspections can improve the way excavated materials are handled, from the beginning to the end. The goal of this study is to see how regulatory authorities can contribute to make sure that the excavated materials end up where it is supposed to and to see if they are possible to re-use excavated soil.
The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency published a handbook 2010, as a guideline, for how to determine which waste, including excavated soil, are appropriate to be used in constructions. The re-use of soil is in compliance with the European Union’s waste hierarchy. In articles written about this subject and in interviews with regulatory authorities, conducted as part of this...
