- The aim of this study was to elucidate which knowledge professionals who work at social services and sheltered accommodations, consider to be important and which experiences they have gained in their work with girls/women who have been exposed to violence and threats. - The aim of this study was to elucidate which knowledge professionals who work at social services and sheltered accommodations, consider to be important and which experiences they have gained in their work with girls/women who have been exposed to violence and threats. But we also wanted to examine how professionals work on the basis of available methods and interventions. The study was conducted using qualitative approach through semi-structured interviews. We carried out six interviews in Skåne and Småland, three of the respondents worked at different social services and the other three at sheltered accommodations. Five themes where identified that seem to play a special role in the discussion about knowledge and education, interventions and methods, adolescent conflict or abuse, professional’s descriptions of characteristic features of violence and is the phenomenon noticed enough according the professionals. The analysis was based on the theory social constructivism, three different perspectives on violence and the theoretical concept patriarchal systems. As a conclusion we have reached that education about men’s violence against women is characterized by the existing perspectives, which are gender power perspective, intersectional perspective and cultural perspective. The respondents who worked at social services emphasized that they operate by family perspective and those who worked at sheltered accommodations worked on the basis of an individual perspective. All interviewees agreed that control, violence and forced marriage characterize the abuse against girls and women. (Less)
