- Abstract
- Background: Tobacco use and the involuntary exposure to smoking constitute major risks
for health and are among the causes of increased healthcare costs. Contemporary hospitals
are expected to be an example in tobacco control initiatives such as applying smoke-free
environment policies.
Method: This case study investigates the implementation of the tobacco-free workplace
policy at a health-promoting hospital using individual interviews and organizational
documents. Content analysis and discourse analysis were used to interpret the information
from different sources.
