According to my results it is not only security and human rights that are important to discuss in relation to the migration policy but also the EU internal market and its economic goals of competitiveness. The thesis provides examples of how migration and asylum policy within different EU Member States not only increasingly have the same rules and decision-making procedures but also how implicit norms and practices are common, despite the grand differences in numbers of asylum applications and recognitions of refugee status and other forms of protection.
