- Abstract
- After the implementation of the Dayton peace agreement the ethnic groups in Bosnia-Hercegovina faced great challenges when it comes to reconciliation because the county was divided in two entities. One of the entities is the federation that comprises 51 percent of the country and includes Bosniaks and Croats. The second is the Republika Srpska that includes the Serbian people and covers 49 percent. This study aimed to investigate reconciliation processes in BiH after the signing of DPA through the aspects: healing, justice and truth commissions. The three groups relate differently to truth commissions and the ICTY and this result is thus that the reconciliation process often unsuccessful, leaving the three different groups in BiH with persistent negative feelings towards each other and unhealed wounds. Reconciliation can therefor not be applied without regarding the differences in terms of culture, political and social environment. (Less)
