- Abstract
- The aim of this study was to examine how women's shelters provide children's need for support and assistance and how they work with the child perspective. I chose to use a qualitative method with semi-structured interviews. I have done six interviews; I did one interview by the telephone and one by email. Three of the women’s shelters used Trappan-modellen when they talked to the children. The other three women’s shelter used resources from the municipality. The analysis is based on two theories the child perspective, and general systems theory. The child perspective has a central point in the essay and for women’s shelters work. And the general systems theory is important to include in the analysis to see how different systems affect each other. After taking part of the respondents’ statements, I consider that women’s shelters take a child perspective into account in their work with children. They look to the child´s best by listen to their opinions, help them to process their experiences, activate them and offer them safety. The systems theory shows how collaboration with other instance can promote the individual. (Less)
