- In this critical idea-analysis of the relation between Sweden and the Nordic Council the author sifts out two construcions of identity and tests if there is a discrepancy to be found between what the member state grows within its borders and also sign by being a part of the nordic cooperation. In this study the analysis dive into the origins of scandinavism and nordism and discover touching points with the Nordic Council today and the roots of nordic ideology. It is clear that the Nordic Council and Sweden, by practicing this nordic doctrine of isolation and distance to Europe, also excludes its own inhabitants on cultural, historical and geographic facts.
