The goal of the examination was to get a perception of the knowledge of current chemicals legislation of pesticides, among traders in Hässleholm and to eliminate deficient or disallowed products from store shelves. Do traders show any deficiencies in the various categories, labeling, child-resistant packaging, tactile warning, illegal substances, or are they aware of all legislation on pesticides?
The essay’s empirical material consists of examined products from selected stores as well as their response to questionnaires sent out. The paper also draws on material from scientific papers, articles, publications from government agencies, literature, and government websites.
A total of 20 biocidal products with focus on the control of various kinds of pests were examined and from every store one to three products was documented, depending on their range of pesticides. Five of the 20 products tested, were found at several retailers. Of the 20 products were four of them unapproved.
Results of the study indicate that there is room for improvement both regarding shopkeepers and responsible authorities. The retail sector has a major responsibility for the products they sell to consumers that they are approved and properly labeled, as well as the authorities need to become better at informing retailers about what laws and regulations that apply and how they more easily can find the correct information.
