- Abstract
- Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is a highly used concept in leadership and education. The aim of this study was to examine the concept emotional intelligence is and what impact it has in social work. I have explored different texts, dissertations and other literature related to emotional intelligence and social work. I have also used the two most common theories about emotional intelligence, which is from Daniel Goleman and Mayer & Salovey to understand better the basics of emotional intelligence. The results show a dominant view of emotional intelligence is an important aspect of the relationship between the social worker and her client, the relationship between her and her colleagues and the relationship she has with her supervisor.
