- Abstract
- This bachelor’s thesis is a study about guidelines on gender equality and gender mainstreaming. The theories used are queerfeminism, performativity and normcritical perspective. The purpose with the study is to understand how two organisations work with gender equality and gender mainstreaming in relation to their guidelines. The research questions were: (1) Is it possible to understand gender mainstreaming from a normcritical- and queerfeminis perspective (2) What are the similarities and differences in the way the guidelines describe what gender mainstreaming is about? - This bachelor’s thesis is a study about guidelines on gender equality and gender mainstreaming. The theories used are queerfeminism, performativity and normcritical perspective. The purpose with the study is to understand how two organisations work with gender equality and gender mainstreaming in relation to their guidelines. The research questions were: (1) Is it possible to understand gender mainstreaming from a normcritical- and queerfeminis perspective (2) What are the similarities and differences in the way the guidelines describe what gender mainstreaming is about? (3 How are the categories women and men described? A more integrated question (4) is: What are the consequences of gender mainstreaming for people outside of gender binary-thinking? The findings of the study showed that gender equality and gender mainstreaming is mostly about women and men. This also means that, if organisations wish to reach out and include more people, such as transgender identified people who are part of the population in the area, the work needs to continue from a deeper and wider gender perspective.
