Manlighet, begär och det okända: en studie av manlighet i ett urval av Svenska Balettens uppsättningar 1920-1925
(2015) GNVK01 20142Department of Gender Studies
- Abstract
- This paper seeks to develop an understanding of how configurations of masculinity were shaped and represented by the Swedish Ballet in the 1920s through the use of a symbolic language of signs. With in-depth analysis of storylines, roles and scenography I aim to show how certain symbols, signs and metaphors where tied together to display masculinity. Further, by applying theory on space/place, this study will also offer insight into how location, time and context are to be considered factors in the shaping of masculinity.
