Abstract
The aim of this study was to look on the introduction for newly employed social workers in the social services working with children and youth and social assistance. The focus of our study was to investigate whether there are differences in how the introduction perceived between municipalities but also between those working on their first job since graduating and those who have previous experience in social work experience. Our empirical data was collected using a mail survey and were then analyzed based on following theories; organizational theory from an Human Resource-perspective, Eurats theory of workplace learning and Dreyfus and Dreyfus theory of skill acquisition, from novice to expert. To compile the results, we used SPSS program. We also used a bivariate analysis with chi-square test to look for significant differences. The results showed that those who are satisfied with their introduction were satisfied with many aspects of theirs introduction, while those who were dissatisfied were dissatisfied on several points. The results also showed that there were significant differences in the experience of introduction between the two municipalities, where the social workers in the small municipality were generally more satisfied. Social workers were equally satisfied with their introduction regardless of previous experience or first job since graduating. (Less)
