Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

Abstract
The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to explore what students at samhällsvetenskapliga fakulteten in Lund thought were important characteristics for a future attractive workplace, which work motivation they had and if there was a correlation between these. The study also examined if there was a difference between men and women. The research method was survey and we collected the data through a convenience sample (107 men and 107 women). The survey contained one open question about important characteristics for a future attractive workplace and 12 self-report questions about work motivation. We used Self Determination Theory as a theoretical framework when analyzing motivation, and research about working climate and employer... (More)

The survey contained one open question about important characteristics for a future attractive workplace and 12 self-report questions about work motivation. We used Self Determination Theory as a theoretical framework when analyzing motivation, and research about working climate and employer branding when analyzing the characteristics the participants thought were the most important for a future attractive workplace. The result indicated that there was a difference between what men and women thought were important characteristics and also a significant difference in motivation. The study also examined if age influenced motivation, and we found that it did. A conclusion that could be drawn was that both men and women in this study thought that a satisfying work environment and interesting work tasks were important characteristics for a future attractive workplace.
