Informations- och kommunikationsteknologins effekt på afrikanska länders export
(2015) NEKM01 20142Department of Economics
- Abstract
- This study aims to examine the effects of information and communications
technology (ICT) on international trade in African countries. Panel data is used for 54
African countries from 2001 to 2010. The African countries are divided into three
groups: North Africa & South Africa (NS), Sub-Saharan coast (SSK) and Sub-
Saharan landlocked (SSI). The Gravity model is employed to form a theoretical and
empirical foundation. A fixed effects model is applied to estimate the impact of
Internet, mobile and fixed telephone on exports. The empirical results suggest that
mobile usage has positive effect on trade in all three groups, Internet has positive
effect on trade in NS and SSK and fixed telephone has positive effect on trade in SSI.
