- Abstract (Swedish)
- Purpose: The sudden loss of vestibular function when operated for vestibular schwannoma is widely recognized. To minimize the effects and to rehabilitate the patient before surgery patients undergo a PREHAB treatment program. This study examines if the effect of the pre-treatment is a good way to pursue.
Methods: Studies of nurse registers from the patients time in the ward postoperatively. Three groups were formed, one group had got the PREHAB treatment and two groups had not got any treatment before surgery but were divided by the presence of vestibular function before the operation.

Results: There are significant differences that imply that the treatment is effective for the post-operative process. The patients that undergo PREHAB have statistically fewer in-hospital days and a tendency to have faster mobilization speed.
Conclusion: The findings imply that the PREHAB method is benefactory for the patients operated for vestibular schwannoma. (Less)
