Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
The purpose of the study presented here was to get a deeper understanding of how different CBT supervisors perceive the cognitive and behavioral components in their training supervision with students in the psychotherapy program. The study group consisted of ten certified CBT psychotherapists with approved supervisor training, who served as supervisors mainly for the psychotherapy program at Lund University and Stockholm University respectively. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with all the participants. The material was analyzed by means of an empirically guided thematic analysis. In the analysis, seven main themes with their respective subthemes, were found. The seven main themes were: Adaptation, Widening, Conflict,... (More)

In the analysis, seven main themes with their respective subthemes, were found. The seven main themes were: Adaptation, Widening, Conflict, Confusion, Vulnerability, Influence from background, View of the future of CBT.
Since there is a built-in area of tension in the CBT concept that is transferred to the supervising situation, themes like adaptation and conflict become evident in the moment of supervision. The supervisors strive for adaptation, but conflicts also arise since adaptation is not always possible or desirable. An important bridge that facilitates the supervisors’ way of handling the theoretical field of tension within CBT, is the concept of scientific evidence. This is described in the subtheme of security in scientific support. The students are invited to use arguments of scientific evidence in order to get more leeway without straining the relationship to the supervisor. This is possible because the arguments of scientific evidence go beyond the theoretical and philosophical areas of tension that are present in the CBT concept. (Less)
