- Abstract

The photographers’ works are published within different institutions and this essay addresses how these institutions – in this case an art gallery and a newspaper – determines the content of the photograph. The study also addresses the photographers’ and models’ professional status and prestige as a main factor of the interpretation of the photographs, by analysing the models habitus and social capital via Pierre Bourdieu’s sociology theory.
The study also presents potential reasons that Teller’s photographs of full-on nudity are considered suitable for an art gallery by comparing them to historical artworks. (Less)
