Our hypothesis was that psychiatric care for children and adolescents has become more focused on mental illness after organizational changes. We also investigated the employees experienced influence over the changes at their workplace, the political process and how the care for lighter mental illness organization was prepared nationwide. Our method was comparing contextual factors together with scientific articles and a survey measured at one occasion at our workplace. The results shows that the employees did not feel involved in the reorganization. They experienced a lack of communication about implementation factors. The employees do have a long time of experience in psychiatric care and with children and youths in particular. There seem to be no reduction in cases or in workload. Our interpretation is that the implementation resulted in a higher specialization, but no change in number of cases. It was clear that the employees saw a need for increased collaboration between the two units. (Less)
