As a method, discourse analysis is used, and shows the police’s image of the victims as failing to claim a normative femininity. This affects the way the women exposed to domestic violence is treated and understood as victims, and in long term how these women are treated by Swedish police. The essay claims to show how domestic violence is focusing on the women as a complainant, instead of the man as the crime suspect. (Less)
