Abstract (Swedish)
Bakgrund: Många barn upplever våld i sina familjer i vårt land. (More)

(Less)

Purpose: The purpose of this essay is to find out how the social service investigators think is the difficulties of investigating children exposed to violence. Method: A qualitative semi structured focus group interview was conducted and from that questionnaire was created in order to get an idea of patterns and trends concerning the experienced challenges in working as an investigator. Results: Many of the investigators had limited work experience and half the group report that they have limited knowledge of the investigating procedure concerning violence and just as many claim that they have limited knowledge of understanding children’s symptoms when exposed to violence. Investigators think that time is one of the most important resources in conducting investigations properly. Additional challenges are that during investigation other problems appears and also it can be difficult to cooperate with other agencies and organizations. Discussion: More cooperation and better collaboration is needed in this field. The investigators are trying and willing to do their work with high quality but have limited possibilities both in terms of time, support and knowledge in performing their challenging task to do so. Continuous learning context would be provided at work in order to update knowledge and take part of new findings and research. (Less)
