- This is a project that have been conduct at IKEA of Sweden in Älmhult. Due to the limitation of time for this project, the study has only been conduct for one several Home Furnisher Business (HFB) within IKEA. The purpose of the project was to provide suggestions on how to improve the Sales and Supply process in order to enhance balancing of demand and supply.
Within the concerned HFB there are a lot of process descriptions regarding how to work with different activities. Despite that, it still occur a lot of deviations in the balancing of supply and demand. Some examples of deviations that give an imbalance are quality issues, poor information sharing and supply chain interruptions. Quality issues can force the HFB to sales stop a... Loss of and/or delayed information causes reactive instead of a proactive ways of working to balance supply and demand. The HFB has to enhance their Sales & Supply process to decrease the imbalances between supply and demand. This should be conduct by enhance the ways of working which means improve how to plan, monitoring and acting on deviation in the balancing of supply and demand.
A single case study approach has been used in this project. Data was collected through internal sources, pre-meetings, observations and interviews. Both, qualitative primary and secondary data were collected. The interviews were performed as semi-structured interviews. Five pre-interviews were performed and ten core-interviews. (Less)
