- The Richard Prince show New Portraits at the Gagosian Gallery in New York (opening September 2014) shed a light on the problem of new definitions of art, in a digital world where the borders of definition are becoming more and more blurry. This is an ongoing debate, relevant also outside this particular exhibition. The critique and the documentation of this show, New Portraits, are the main sources of discussion in this essay. It examines the concept of originality, in a world where we are led to believe that the word originality is just as passé and outdated as the modernist view on art.
