Flyktingar och regional ekonomisk tillväxt
(2016) NEKH01 20152Department of Economics
- Abstract
- This study aims to examine if the share of refugees in Sweden's counties affects the regional economic growth. We use panel data regressions to investigate the impact of refugees on gross regional product per capita growth. The study includes data from all of Sweden's counties between 1996 and 2011, making the analysis relatively short-term. The conclusion of the study is that a larger share of refugees has a negative impact on regional growth. However, this effect is no longer statistically significant when time fixed effects is used in the regression.
