- Abstract
- This project explores improvements of breaching procedure to the benefit of fire-fighter for security doors of a security class RC3 and higher. The background of the project is based in an interview with experienced fire-fighters about taxing tasks in their profession. Breaching was identified as an issue due to its physically though requirements, stressful environment and necessity when accessing an apartment fire. The resulting product utilizes established breaching principles and is usable in all breaching situations. BT-1 minimizes the physical strain on the fire-fighters in this particular maneuver which makes the task faster and easier for them to perform. The most important benefit from this product is that the fire-fighters can spend more time and energy on actual life saving maneuvers in an emergency situation which could hopefully increase the amount of saved lives.
