- Abstract
- This master thesis describes a graduation work that was carried out on a heating plant owned by Sydbränsle AB. It describes the resulting control system, the way to final resolutions and conclusions. The goal was the usage of a PC as an operator interface to simplify the supervising and controlling of the heating plant. Man/machine interface would be simplified extensibly so that all the untrained computer employers would quickly understand and have use of the system. New software based control functions would be written, and directed to an improved dynamic technology, for the emission levels would reach valid limits. The burning process and the fuel management has therefore been shown special interest. Furthermore there would be a... (More)

Furthermore there would be a possibility for connection by the telephone network from an other place than the heating plant, and from there it could supervise the process and make changes in the process control. The result became a totally new computer-controlled system that completely replaced the existing system. An IBM compatible PC (386 SX) is used for the operator interface. The computer-controlled program for the burning process is placed in a PLC (SattCon15-20). A separate 386 SX-computer is used for the conveyer program and the PLC are directly connected to the operator-computer from where the process can be adjusted. The system is easy to use and has meant a considerable improvement of further fuel management, CO waste, and the burning control. The system has been in operation since January 1991. (Less)
