- This master’s thesis is about digital history and digital documents, studying attitudes and practises concerning this in some non-profit organizations. The study centres on how creators of archives handle their digital presence and on what they think about their digital material as part of their future history.
The study has two main theoretical starting points: one in document theory, centring on the digital age and one in history, concerning identities and the organization of the large people's movements in the late 19th and early 20th century.

A mapping of the organizations' digital presence connects the interviewed organizations ideas to what they are actually doing with their digital material. The organizations to interview was found with help from archivists at Skånes Arkivförbund, who handles archives mostly from non-profit organizations in the private archival sector.
The organizations handle digital questions in different ways, but all could see problems concerning saving and archiving. All organizations realized that their material could have a value for future scientific research and some of them saw it as an important tool for developing their own organization. Many of the informants seem to experience a lack of structure and an uncertainty about what routines and practises they should apply. The theoretical framework from document theory showed some interesting concepts for handling this frustration and work out sustainable notions considering digital material in non-profit organizations.
