Abstract
From a communicative perspective, this study intended to achieve a greater under- standing and knowledge of how internal communication, structure and culture con- tribute to the anchoring of an organization's identity. The study also aimed to make visible the prevailing power relations and its importance for the creation of identity.
The survey was conducted in an organization that was part of a merger, which means that the conditions for how the internal communication, structure and culture are taking shape within the organization have changed. This has also contributed to a change in the organization’s identity.

With the starting-point of an employee perspective, a qualitative case study is carried out. The empirical data is thus consisting of interviews and documents, and the content of these are transcribed, thematized and categorized. These themes and categories has served as the basis for the choice of the theoretical framework. In the analysis of the empirical material, is a critical perspective adopted with purpose to determine the power relations that the empirics expressed. In the analysis, the study highlighted three main categories, internal, structure and culture, where theory in dialogue with the empirics emphasized its connection to power and construction of identity.
The main results of the analysis have shown consistent perceptions of redundant information, controlled work environment, internal competition, divided organiza- tional culture, which has been followed by exercise of power and resistance among all organization members. This has contributed to perception of the vision as well as identity, as vague and diffuse, thereby resulting in difficulties for organization members to interpret, understand and identify with the new organizational identity.
