Abstract
Burnout is a growing phenomenon and is causing large problems and costs to individuals, organisations and society alike. This study examines the relationships between performance based self-esteem (PBSE), work related stress factors and burnout. Through a web survey (N=184) the participants PBSE, work related stress factors and degree of burnout was measured through the Pbse scale, Areas of Work Scale (AWS) and Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Work related stress factors (in the form of Workload, Control, Reward and Values) were found to have a larger statistical relationship with burnout than PBSE. Utmattningssyndrom är ett växande problem och något som skapar stora bekymmer och kostnader för såväl individer, organisationer som samhälle. Denna studie undersöker det samband som finns mellan prestationsbaserad självkänsla (PBS) och stressfaktorer i arbetslivet och dess relation till utbrändhet. Genom en webbenkät (N=184) undersöktes deltagarnas prestationsbaserade självkänsla, skattning av arbetsrelaterade stressfaktorer och deras grad av utbrändhet genom instrumenten PBS-skalan, Areas of Work Scale (AWS) och Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Av de sex arbetsrelaterade stressfaktorer som undersöktes var det bara faktorn Arbetsbelastning som kunde predicera PBS. PBS hade en svag medierande effekt på samtliga kombinationer av stressfaktorer och utbrändhetsdimensioner utom en (Arbetsbelastning-Utmattning). Prestationsbaserad självkänsla konstaterades i denna studie ha ett litet men tydligt samband med arbetsrelaterade stressfaktorer och utbränning. (Less)
